TB-500 corresponds to the actin-binding domain of thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4), the most abundant intracellular G-actin-sequestering peptide in mammalian tissue. The fragment retains key biological activities attributed to the full-length protein, including promotion of cell migration and proliferation via upregulation of actin polymerization, modulation of angiogenic signaling through VEGF and angiopoietin-1 pathways, and anti-apoptotic activity in a range of cell types.
