MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid mitochondria-derived peptide (MDP) encoded in the 12S rRNA region of the mitochondrial genome, studied in preclinical models for its roles in AMPK activation, metabolic flexibility, and age-associated metabolic decline. For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Description

MOTS-c (mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA-c) is a 16-residue peptide derived from the small open reading frame within the 12S rRNA gene of the mitochondrial genome. In preclinical cell and rodent studies, MOTS-c has been shown to translocate to the nucleus under metabolic stress, where it activates AMPK and suppresses the folate cycle and de novo purine synthesis, redirecting metabolic flux toward fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake. It has been investigated as a research tool for studying the mitochondria-to-nucleus retrograde signaling axis and its relationship to metabolic aging and insulin sensitivity.

Dorado Research offers MOTS-c as a high-purity lyophilized peptide with identity confirmed by LC-MS and purity assessed by analytical HPLC. The compound reconstitutes readily in sterile aqueous buffer for use in cell signaling experiments, metabolomics studies, and in vivo pharmacology models. It is provided exclusively as a qualified laboratory research reagent. For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
