Description
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD⁺) is a ubiquitous dinucleotide coenzyme that serves as an essential electron carrier in oxidative phosphorylation and as a substrate for regulatory enzymes including the sirtuin family of protein deacylases (SIRT1–7), poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARPs), and CD38 glycohydrolase. Research over the past decade has established that intracellular NAD⁺ levels decline with age in multiple tissues, correlating with diminished mitochondrial function, impaired DNA damage repair, and altered circadian clock entrainment.
